here is a little hope in Alabama… the heart of the kid beating south, but even there educated professionals stand against the abuse… good for them , too bad their ruling has no teeth.

Glenda Dawson High School, Pearland, Texas

Who knows for sure when we’re not close to the scene when it comes to disparate accounts to the pledge refusal paddling. What’s next? Waterboarding?

Zero corporal punishment in the school is reported among the 2,257 paddle eligible pupils. Her refusal could have been the offense that was the last straw of a series of misbehavior but the school can find few things more disrespectful and disruptive to be perceived as in your face unpatriotic. She is paying for past sins that can be pointed to by the school in its defense.

Code of conduct starts on page 35. I cannot find corporal punishment in their handbook.

Page 44. DHS is a weapon-free school. A student shall not go onto the school premises or any school related activity with a firearm, explosive weapon, or illegal knife. Students are also prohibited from bringing to school or to a school-related activity any other weapons. This prohibition will not normally apply to school supplies such as pencils, compasses, and the like, unless they are used in a menacing or threatening manner.

It must be an unwritten rule that non-corporal punishment can be traded off for corporal punishment. Why? The high school administration uses disciplinary management techniques at their own discretion. Their district permits corporal punishment as found on page 10 so the high school students are paddle eligible.

In spite of school paddling policies of published moderate corporal punishment seen in handbooks I would be surprise if defiance, vulgar language and willful disobedience or disruption always occur with four separate incidences.

Being paddled twice in the same day would send a message. Children aren’t the only ones that may bend the rules.

The pledge issue has gone viral.

Scroll to Stuart Oklahoma. Stuart is in the epicenter of the virus. This could be a case of stand up or bend over.

Dawson High School’s mascot is the Eagles. Dawson’s school colors are red, white, and blue. The school motto is: “Some Fly, We Soar.”

The mascot has been paddled the eagle has landed. Had their mascot been a beaver that would be another story.
