Permit me to express a few thoughts on the prevalent idea that is being so forcefully attacked by your feminine readers—that women need discipline today, specifically a spanking now and then. I am not of this area, having resided in this district since my marriage two years ago. I say this because I believe most of the opinions have been tinted with the Victorian and provincial ideas favored by local feminine readers. I believe my metropolitan background and a few years experience on the stage give me a broader and truer perspective. I am not a woman of the world by any means, but a few years in burlesque and with the carnival shows and you get to know the people in this world.

A woman does not need discipline, but a spanking is neither wife beating nor physical violence. In the ease of these local objectors, the only injury is to their pride and swollen ego. I’ve seen some of the prettiest chorus girls and leading ladies spanked backstage on their birthday and everyone got into the act It was and is nothing more unusual than a goodbye kiss among friends. A good trooper thought no more of it than if it were to their act on the stage.

Years ago women were shocked by the flapper, today even grandmothers dress modishly and daringly. That is why I fail to see the reason for such vehement replies to the simple suggestion a women needs discipline. I don’t mind a spanking once in a while. For one thing It shows my husband’s interest is still to me and not somewhere else. I personally like the practice.

The pretty girls I’ve known never made a suffragette issue of it, which brings up another thought. The local girls are really naive if they fail to understand why it is the attractive ones are those who get spanked

In 1939 an article that would appear in the below links wouldn’t raise an eyebrow. The end of the innocence began here with kinky model Betty Page. The film on the Notorious Betty Page showed when that Senator Estes Kefauver TN attacked the effects of pornography on youth with her promoter Irving Klaw being questioned on Capitol Hill. Her promoter was upset that Kiss Me Kate with its famous spanking scene on stage in 1951 didn’t receive any censure or censor. Nothing pornographic here. I did find the pout with the wife rubbing her bottom ranking up there with a Norman Rockwell classic. It may become a best selling poster.

As I look back I wonder in 1939 whether the same mentality justifying nonconsensual corporal punishment for self gratification was operative in the home within moderation was found in the school. There is a universal moral compass IMHO called a conscience and I find many people must have found corporal punishment OTT and looked the other way back then. How many bare bottom spankings were given devoid of lustful motives? I would assume most but less likely than clothed. Pain and humilation was part of the punishment and I’m sure given by many with the best interests of the student in mind but were people aware what a temptation it was for some? They stopped doing it around the end of the age of innocence. What year or so was that in the UK? We have fewer boarding school so much of this wouldn’t apply as it did in the home. What shifting standards of motives in fashion and CP!!!

My father had a propensity similar to Max Mosley’s, albeit somewhat simpler, about 40 years ago. He just liked to spank a bottom, and paid ladies for it. As does Mr. Mosley, he found willing participants. No sex, just a spanking. A newspaper in the U. K., The Sunday People, published an article about this activity — my father was a well-known lawyer — and he sued. He quickly became known as The Spanking Colonel.

I worked in the film business in the U. K., and when my father came to our pub in Soho, he was roundly applauded by all the respectable ladies, who thought nothing of such a business transaction. The trial went to jury and they found that the newspaper had indeed libeled him, but only awarded him one penny in damages: the second time that such a small amount has been awarded in English legal history. The whole matter cost him dearly, and changed his life dramatically, and not for the better.

Mr. Mosley might care to consider that he is not the first to come to court in such a matter, the Spanking Colonel beat (no pun intended) him to it. This sort of thing is rather like being killed crossing the street at a crosswalk when the lights are on and one has one’s hand out as one march-es forward, only to be struck dead by a car. You were right, but also dead.

A_L Good catch on that theorem. We learned that when we had to go out and buy our own compass in sophomore (as in high school) geometry.

From this blogger we have the waning days of the age of innocence. Oh, the seventies.

My eldest sister was at the high school. She, as well as half a dozen other girls, were paddled by the male principal for wearing blue-jeans……..So what made it a punishable offense for her to wear them? Of course, the argument went that school was a more formal setting, and that blue-jeans were not appropriate. But boys were not paddled for wearing blue-jeans, and they were not sent home for wearing trousers. The issue was not that trousers were inappropriate, it was that our, female, bodies in trousers were seen as problematic.

Gertrude Sparrow spoke of receiving a spank a minute after her midnight curfew. Even then youngsters would put their name for public viewing. I wonder how her folks reacted? This series I found to be the most amusing. There are a lot of customs that come up from the border down Mexico way with immigration laws. Some are reposts.

I’ll let others make heads or tails out of this scrambled text from Scranton. The one closer to the scene in the second link is harder to decipher and contains other details quite apart from the Nebraska text in the first link.

In the spring a livelier iris Bloom upon the burnished dove; In the spring a young man’s fancy Lightly turns to thoughts of love. Edward Sullivan is a man. he is young. The date was March 26, generally accepted as the beginning of spring. Miss Finn, surnamed Agnes, is a teacher in the Exeter school, which were under the supervision of Mr. Sullivan. Sullivan’s fancy turned to Miss Finn and an enraptured kiss resulted. All of which shows that Mr, Tennyson knew what he was talking about. Yesterday was Sullivan’s day of reckoning, for he was placed upon trial before Judge Lynch of the Luserne county court, charged with assault and battery. Miss Finn was the prosecutrix and startling allegatons such as the kissing of Miss Finn, who was truly kissable, and further the hugging and squeezing process was used. To have a fair prosecutrix make such accusations was not so serious if a jail sentence and fine were not incorporated in the finding of one guilty. When the verdict was returned the jury recommended the defendant to the extreme mercy of the court, in view of his high standing in the community previous to the fiasco and of the provocation, which was great. One hundred dollars costs will have to be paid by Sullivan, while other sentence was deferred, the price of the kiss being rather high when the panicky conditions of the country are taken into consideration. Sullivan’s sentence was received in silence while Miss Finn hardly knew whether to be pleased or not. Naturally enough the court room was crowded when the case was being heard and of course Miss Finn looked immaculate in a dainty shirtwaist suit, which gave prominence to her grace of figure. Then there was the Merry Widow hat, which bobbed with impatience when counsel for the defense aroused her ire by referring to Mr. Sullivan with the pet names of “Dearie” and “Cherry.” Coached by District Attorney, Miss Finn began her testimony by stating that she had taught under Principal Sullivan for four terms, but was never intimate with him outside of the regular routine work of the school. On the day of the assault, March 26, Sullivan came to her room at recess time and began to get familiar. In fact, Miss Finn said, he got so bold that he deliberately kissed her. Miss Dougherty, the Janitres said that she was in the room after the disturbance and that Miss Finn’s lips were swollen. : ‘ Sullivan denied the assault and said that he and Miss Xealon came in the room together and that they sat down to tell funny stories. Poland teenagers have a lot to teach teenagers in the USA. However well chaperoned Senior Proms are there are behavioral issues that even the “best” of schools that cause. So many problems that schools are tempted to cancel them altogether.

For a smaller amount of money than Quiceneros and Sweet Sixteen parties they sure can enjoy themselves. KK mentioned once about how much good old fashioned fun they’re having in a wholesome way.

This video shows just how far Poland is from the Me Too phenomenon. Where else would you find a girl over her boyfriend’s knee? There have been many times the estimable Forum has been dragged dane
into political matters, such as the Me Too Movement but not to its benefit. I am all for a robust discussions but on matters that relate to school corporal such as white girls’ bottom spared paddlings. How many birthdays would we have had if we had been like other forums and become sidetracked.got side tracked by prolonged discussions.

How many Fourth of July would we have celebrated unless woman who have the Courage to Submit as this commencement speaker to balance the extremities that any movement engenders. Sorry to prolong the discussion.

When college girls are willing to be spanked publicly to protest abuses I was the first to laud them so don’t number me among those that see no value in movements that protect the rights of women to be freed from exploitations.

The cartoon “EL PAYO” was published in MEXICO for a decade, from 1969 to 1979, selling millions of copies in what is considered as THE GOLDEN TIME OF THE MEXICAN COMICS.

This was the decade in the USA when the heavy hand of censorship reasserted itself due to sensitivities surrounding political correctness. Thankfully, Mexico and Brazil didn’t follow that timeline.

When Justine debut in 1968 Romina had just turned 17. It was the age of innocence in Italy but not in the USA. Only a few movie theaters would show the film. The director was the renowned Jesus Franco. The scenes had to be carefully edited. It was said she looked very much like her legendary father.

Franco originally wanted to cast Rosemary Dexter as Justine, but was forced to cast Romina Power in the role, which led to Franco changing the story to suit her.

Her first description of it was that she was left purple and black for a week. She has since said that she probably exaggerated it.
