The waist was quite high, the legs quite wide,and reaching to only perhaps a couple of inches below the buttock/thigh crease. A real gift for those teachers intent on exposing some bottom.

Some of the ladies however,would not be satisfied with what they probably regarded as a minisule area to smack on, and while still hauling away at the waistbands described, would take the hems of shorts and underpants, now half-way up your cheeks, and proceed to pull them up your bottom crack, giving the boy the ultimate ‘wedgie’,and to all intents and purposes, baring your bottom cheeks completely. Then the dear lady would get busy with hand or ruler,smacking away merrily until little white bottoms turned a nice shade of pink.
It is strange to recall,but none of the boys, myself included, ever felt particularly ashamed or mortified by this treatment. Yet,if our shorts and underpants had been taken DOWN our bottoms to expose them, certainly I for one would have been horrified and terminally embarrassed.Spankings in the classroom did not produce any particular jocularity, or conversely any dread solemnity amongst the other kids, including the girls. Possibly it was such an everyday occurence that we were blase about it.
It does make me wonder though, as to why the male teachers, admittedly few in number, and mostly teaching the higher grades, did not have a similar method to the ladies,as this particular method was practically a set routine in the school. Very unlikely in that era, before paedo-hysteria arrived on the scene. Parents used to back teachers up in those days.
It seems a perverse idea in some ways, but I cannot help but be intrigued by the possibility that the female teachers may have derived some sort of pleasure from the exposing of the boys’ bottom cheeks, and who knows? From smacking them too perhaps. I had some lovely lady teachers whom I have fond memories of, and it is difficult for me to contemplate some ulterior, somewhat ‘black’ motive for their spanking methods. Actually,it was my idea to change my title,as there seemed to be too much confusion otherwise.
I read your posting on being embarrassed by having had your little thigh smacked. It brought back many memories,particularly of standing out on parade of a morning,and having to march into school.
We were so regimented back then,and everything seemed to be based on the armed forces,like saluting the flag and standing to attention etc.
I empathise with your experience of getting that smacking,but I have to admit that when I was at school,it didn’t bother me particularly being spanked.I imagine everybody is different in this regard.
I didn’t like it,and it stung,but I was used to much worse at home.
The other boys in the class didn’t appear to bother very much about it either.
All of the kids that I knocked about with at school got spanked at home,most of them on the bare bottom like me.
My Dad used a hairbrush on us kids,and it hurt like blazes,and sometimes,especially when we were younger,we’d be spanked in front of each other.
My Mum rarely spanked,and if she did,it was with her hand, but hard!
So I suppose that I was,in a way,de-sensitised to the spankings given by the lady teachers at school. My pants were up my bottom of course,but somehow that did not equate with my pants being pulled down. Not logical I know,but there you are.
What may have been a factor too, was that the other kids in the class didn’t ‘razz’ us,or laugh at us when we were spanked,and the girls didn’t tease us. That could have made a lot of difference I think.
Having said that,I believe that it probably WOULD have been a good thing if our pants had been pulled down,when I think about it now days.
Because that would have embarrassed me,and most,if not all,of the other boys too.
Even if it was done in private,the shame and embarrassment factor would be there.
I am sure it would have improved behaviour overall,and resulted in a lot less spankings,because you would be trying to avoid it like the plague.
Even though I was used to bare bottom at home,from a TEACHER it would have been a different ball-game.
Imagine trying to feel like anything but a naughty little boy,after teacher has pulled your pants down and smacked your bare bottom?
I would have been mortified! No way could you be uppity or a smart-arse with the teacher after that is there?
I am enjoying thinking back over my school career,and I have been emailing some of my old classmates to see if they recall any pithy incidents.

Often, male teachers have an advantage in volume and timbre of voice that enables them to assert their authority. I think the lady teachers were just making sure you understood who was in charge!
Many contributors here have suggested that women tended to punish more severely than men. I suspect some believed they were not physically quite as strong as their male colleagues so made an extra effort to ensure the punishment was fully effective.

An interesting observation hcj.
I am afraid that my view of male teachers was tarnished by the first one that I had at school in grade 7.
As I have posted previously, this man was a dowell-rod wielding maniac, with a viscious temper, and in my view a card-carrying sadist.
Never in my life have I loathed a man as I loathed this one, and I went from being a happy,chirpy little kid, around the top of the class, to a fearful,mumbling little automaton, fumbling along around the middle ranks.
His war cry of “By the living Harrys, I’ll liven you up!!” struck a spear of fear into every childs’ bowells, and the fearsome brandishing of his short,thick dowell-rod, made every boys’ bottom tense in dire anticipation.
Such a person should never have been a teacher in my view, or allowed to be in charge of children.
In contrast, I do not believe that the lady teachers had any real difficulty in establishing their authority, milder though it was.
In many ways we did things for them because we liked them, and wanted to please them.
I remember that my 5th grade teacher, a lovely, motherly lady, who was demonstrative to the degree of giving the children little hugs as a sign of affection.
(Try doing that these days!!!!)
I worked hard for her, not because of fear, but because I wanted her to be proud of me, and to hear a word of praise from her.
One day I blotted my copybook.
I don’t even know why really, but I had been acting rather silly all afternoon, and was told to stay behind after the other kids had gone.
I predictably thought of a spanking, and a hard one or even, GULP!, the headmasters office.
All she did was call me over to her table where she sat, put her arm around my waist, and rather quietly, but sternly, tick me off, and say that she was disappointed in me and had expected better from me.
I felt so upset, that I just broke into tears and sobbed.
This was totally unlike me! No spanking could have wrung such tears from me.
I was quite devastated to think that I had made her think less of me, and that I had let her down.
I apologised profusely and promised that I would be a better boy, so she gave me a hug,patted my bottom affectionately, and said that she hoped that I meant it.
And I did mean it too.
It shows, I think, the difference in approach.
Affection and respect, as opposed to fear and loathing.
The only real discipline is self discipline, and my 5th grade teacher knew that.
Of course, it still doesn’t explain why she pulled our pants up our bottoms on the infrequent occasions when she did spank us.

My fourth grade teacher would pull boy’s shorts upwards to exposed as much of our bottoms as she could usually so the leg of underpants was visible. She had a thick wooden ruler to spank us with and she spanked me once. She would place her chair between her desk and the first row of pupils desks and sit down and order the recipient to her. Once you were over her knee she would pull your shorts up and administer 6 whacks of the ruler. When she punished girls she would raise their dresses upwards to just below the leg of their school knickers and administer the ruler. After you had been spanked you had to stand in the front right corner of the classroom with your hands on your head and nose to the wall for ten minutes and you had to make up the classtime at either recess or lunchtime. She spanked me once, while I don’t remember how much it hurt I do remember looking at my classmates and feeling embarrased while I was standing in the corner.

Right up till the late 60’s a womans role was mainly stay at home mother, keeper of house and minder to kids, yes alien and novel by today’s standards I agree. Men were generally seen the dominant head of house, but when at work it was mum at the helm of home discipline,. Little in the way of formality, a quick sucession of smacks was enough to have the desired effect in maintaining harmony and good behaviour back to the disrupted household.
Smacking of course being more effective on the bare, and boys wearing short trousers, girls dresses, it was easy to either pull up hem of the boys shorts or lift a girls dress to expose a decent amount of spankable thigh or bottom. Mothers could operate this routine not only in house but anywhere they thought suitable without undue embarrassment to those being chastised or gazing onlookers in close proximity. Female, teachers being natural disciplinarians knowing the effectivness of such punishments seemed equally at ease to displayed this trait in their classrooms . Fathers and male teacher on the other hand appeared to take a more formal approach to such matters.

The men teachers generally smacked harder,using a more robust instrument than the ladies,over our shorts or on the bare thigh, the sting of which could bring tears to your eyes.
The women generally used their hand or a ruler,sometimes on the thigh,but at our school, more generally on the bottom. The boys wore shorts to school in all grades as a part of our uniform. Sensible, as we lived in a warm climate. The shorts were similar to the ones English boys wore around the same time I believe. The waist was quite high, the legs quite wide,and reaching to only perhaps a couple of inches below the buttock/thigh crease. A real gift for those teachers intent on exposing some bottom.
The teacher would generally have you bent over your desk or her table at the front,or in the lower grades,over her lap. The teacher would pull your shirt out from where it was tucked into your shorts, slip a hand inside the waistband in order to locate the elastic waistband of your underpants,and then haul both shorts and underpants hard up your bottom, generally exposing a generous portion of little white bottom cheeks to smack.
Some of the ladies however,would not be satisfied with what they probably regarded as a minisule area to smack on, and while still hauling away at the waistbands described, would take the hems of shorts and underpants, now half-way up your cheeks, and proceed to pull them up your bottom crack, giving the boy the ultimate ‘wedgie’,and to all intents and purposes, baring your bottom cheeks completely. Then the dear lady would get busy with hand or ruler,smacking away merrily until little white bottoms turned a nice shade of pink.
It is strange to recall,but none of the boys, myself included, ever felt particularly ashamed or mortified by this treatment. Yet,if our shorts and underpants had been taken DOWN our bottoms to expose them, certainly I for one would have been horrified and terminally embarrassed.Spankings in the classroom did not produce any particular jocularity, or conversely any dread solemnity amongst the other kids, including the girls. Possibly it was such an everyday occurence that we were blase about it.
It does make me wonder though, as to why the male teachers, admittedly few in number, and mostly teaching the higher grades, did not have a similar method to the ladies,as this particular method was practically a set routine in the school. Very unlikely in that era, before paedo-hysteria arrived on the scene. Parents used to back teachers up in those days.
It seems a perverse idea in some ways, but I cannot help but be intrigued by the possibility that the female teachers may have derived some sort of pleasure from the exposing of the boys’ bottom cheeks, and who knows? From smacking them too perhaps. I had some lovely lady teachers whom I have fond memories of, and it is difficult for me to contemplate some ulterior, somewhat ‘black’ motive for their spanking methods. The fact remains that there must have been a reason.

I witnessed my sister being spanked a couple of times and Mother had to contend with the raising of a dress, and a couple of petticoats to deliver a spanking to my sister, I think she had an easier time on her than trying to get my shorts down to spank me. We were spanked quite soundly and our bottoms were quite red by the time our ordeal had ended. We faced further humiliation standing in the corner, our hands furiously rubbing our stinging bottoms.

A thing that I noticed at my primary school, probably because I was on the receiving end of a good deal of it, was the different methods teachers used to apply corporal punishment to their happy little pupils.
In particular, the penchant that the lady teachers had,for the most part, to want to expose the boys bottom, or at least as large a portion of that part of our anatomy as they could manage. At the boys’ boarding school I had to attend as a youth, the summary method of discipline for all minor misbehavior was known as (having to) “present your thighs.” Simply, it called for one to stand facing the class with hands clasped tight behind head and legs spread wide, to bear the “chastening” of their front inner-thighs with a leather belt, this nastiness being all too conveniently facilitated by the inordinate briefness of the short pants that were a compulsory part of the uniform for all boys there. The only good thing I can say about this practice is that it “worked.” Having to endure it once certainly made you think twice about doing something to earn another one.

Nathan that is interesting saw this done by one teacher who pulled up the leg of a boys short trousers =then his underwear bare his cheek of his bottom would she hit you on your underpants or exposed bare thigh with the ruler did she end up ever pulling up both on the boys to bare his bottom cheek as I witnessed

oz George hi there I read your post about being wedgie spanked by your teacher I have never heard of that as I already posted I have seen one buttock bared but never both as you describe I think today a teacher doing this and putting her hand inside a boys shorts to find the elastic of his underpants would certainly lose her job and end up in court for indecent assault but teachers in those days got away with a lot of things in those days

Quite common in my day for the teacher caning you to pull up the back of your shorts before your bending over to get your shorts skin tight with the very tops of your thighs exposed
