Hi, I don’t know if this forum can help, but I’m trying to put together some realistic data regarding the use of corporal punishment in schools.

Reading this and other internet sources of information it is clearly very hard to distinguish between genuine accounts of CP, peoples fantasies, and role play.

School punishment books are difficult to find, or access. When they are available they only show the information that the establishments wished to disclose. They also only reflect official punishments, generally administered by the Head, consequentially they are not very representative of the general use of CP within schools.

If I study references in the media, the reports are generally only written when the incident was questionably outside the law. In England where I live, and indeed went to school, corporal punishment was legally practiced up until 1986. Therefore there would be no reason for the media to cover anything except the unusual.

Sorry to take so long writing back, travel and difficulty logging in have made it hard.
Nothing could have prepared me for the shock of secondary school. The day started like something out of Nazi Germany. Rigid lines when the whistle blew which was all very well but we did not know where to line up. Up the stairs to the hall, being knocked into line by big boys, anyone talking was singled out.
We were all stuck down the front at assembly, randomly. Girls had appeared from another stairway and all looked shocked. The Headmaster, a real hitler type read out our names and gave us form numbers.
Then came a prayer, some hymns and an announcement that anyone who had been caught on the stairs should come up to the front. Fortunately not me. About half the boys and a dozen girls went forward. A lecture followed and then to gasps from all a female teacher came forward with a cane. The Head warned that this is what happens to anyone who misbehaves. The boys and girls were lined up in separate lines. Boys first were then given one stroke on the hand by the head, when he had finished he gave the cane to the female teacher who did the same to the girls. There was much shaking and crying. Nearly all were grasping their hands under their arms or shaking them in the air.
Silently, when told we were directed to our class rooms. On entering we were sent to desks, boys to left of room, girls to the right. Some were still suffering the effects of the cane. The male teacher told us to be quiet and opened his briefcase. he took out a huge slipper and banged it down on the desk.
He told us that it was his assistant and would be used as and when needed.
The room was deathly quiet.
After a shocked hour of timetables and rules we were let out to the playground.
Boys to one side and girls to the other. With a warning that crossing the line would mean a trip to the Headmaster for a serious punishment.
Then our introduction to the others began. We were attacked, caps thrown over the wall and uniforms pulled about. Before the ceremony of “bogging” began. Being bigger I escaped it but the competition was to see how many first years cold be thrown into a cubicle. When full others were thrown over the top.
At the end of break those without caps or with scruffy uniforms were singled out by the supervising teacher. As we marched in they were given a whack with the slipper ( I escaped that 0
There was our first couple of hours. I will relate what happened over the next five years later.

On afternon, i was daydreaming when she asked me what she just say so she told me to stay during break.
When alone with her she called me to her desk and take me over her knee to spank me.
After that she made me stand in the corner near the blackboard until others came back from break

Any other relevant info: I laugh many times and talk with neighbour and so she was upset on morning but it was worse on afternoon so she told me to stay after class.
When everybody was gone she told me to copy a sentence 50 times during her absence.
When she came back, i didn’t have finished, she was upset and told me to finish.
When over, she called me to front of class and remind me about my attitude with some smacks on thighs then ordered me over her knee
Once in position she lift my skirt on my back and began to spank me hardly on my panties. It was a really bad moment

Any other relevant info: It was the second week of school and during break a girl told me bad word so i go on her and slap her face
And things went futrher and we gave slaps and insults on each other.
Noise make teacher coming and all was stopped but i know that we would be punished.
During next lessons, i was informed to go in head’s office after morning classes.
After class my teacher told me to follow her until head’s office and remind me during that trip that i will be severly punished.
Once there my teacher left me in the office, the head told me to stand up in front of her with hands on head.
She scolded me about what happened and said i earned a real spanking so she undid my pants and lower them and then lower my panties too, i was humiliated. Things go even worse when i came on her knees because she spanked me really hard and really long it was horrible.
Once over she stand me up and made me tell i won’t do it again before dress.
I know the other girl have received same spanking at end of the day

Any other relevant info: During a test, i didn’t know my lessons and i tried to cheat by copying on the girl beside me.My teacher caught me and warned me to look at my test. Test was over and i thought it was not so bad.
But 2 days after when teacher returned tests, she don’t returned mine and told me to go fetch it in head’s office after class.
I did it after class but i was surely there fo a spanking is coming and i was right.
When i come in i found a really angry head, she made me face her holding my skirt up and she gave me many smacks on my thighs through my tights during her scolding and then she lowers tights then knickers and put me over knee for theworst spanking i ever got.
She scolded and pauses during it i feel like it never finished. It was a nightmare, my worst moment in school

Any other relevant info – The girl named Carol who was also involved in the copying lived a few doors away from me and as neither of us was very good at maths we decided to put our heads together to get better marks,of course this was easily spotted by Miss Jeffers as every mistake was identical
Mr Briscoe was furious and demanded to know who had copied from who,i must admit i did most of the copying from Carols homework,so i confessed in the hope of leniency from Mr Briscoe,those hopes were dashed when he took the plimsoll from his drawer,having felt sirs plimsoll before i knew how painful it was going to be
Both Carol and myself were given detention the following day,plus i was to receive six with the slipper as well for being the main copier.I was ordered to bend over and touch my toes, my blazer was folded over my back,i remember Mr Briscoe saying tighter and me stretching down to touch my toes
I thought that Carol would have been asked to leave the room,but Miss Jeffers thought she should witness the consequences
of letting other pupils copy her homework.Mr Briscoe gave me six stingers and i howled after each one he really laid them on,before dismissing us both
On the way home i mentioned to Carol that my father would give me another slippering as he always did for misbehavior at school,she said its the same for her only her mum would slap her legs.
Father did,nt let me down and i went over his knee for a good hiding the pain was unbearable i could,nt hold back the tears
and i,m surprised Carol did,nt hear my yells from her house
Just to finish Carols mum did give her legs a good slapping as they were still a little reddish at school the next day
Forgot to mention that every pupil who was given detention had to have a form signed by their parents confirming that their son/daughter could attend ,thats how my dad discovered my crime

Any other relevant info: This is rather jumbled in my head. We were having a school party to celebrate the end of the war – it was a very big thing. Trestle tables had been set up with all sorts of goodies. I kicked a football and somehow it caused the collapse of one of the trestle tables which was holding bottles of fruit juice and other things – I remember the bottles because of the smashing, but I think there were other things on the table as well. I was accused of doing this deliberately but I think it was probably an accident. It’s hard to remember and even if it was an accident, I might not have been supposed to be kicking a football anywhere near it. I found myself taken to see our Principal – a very formidable Nun – who told me I was going to get the cane. I refused to bend over despite a number of warnings that I was making things worse for myself. In the end, she pulled me across her lap, lifted up the back of my dress and pulled my knickers down and smacked me until I suppose she decided she’d made her point.

Any other relevant info: I was carrying some books and I dropped them and the ‘s-word’ slipped out. My teacher heard and asked me if I had just sworn. If I had been honest, I probably would have got away with a warning or some token punishment but instead I lied and said “I just said Spit.” I’d been warned about my honesty a few times and this time, the teacher decided to make an example of me. He asked if I wanted to go and see the Principal, which would have probably meant the cane, or have him deal with it here and now. I took that option. It was both painful and humiliating but I deserved it.

Any other relevant info: A boy from another school (I was at a girls’ school by this stage) had approached me on the train after school. I didn’t like his attentions, so I reported what had happened to one of my school prefects who was on the same train, but I terribly exaggerated what he had done – he had been mildly annoying, but what I accused him of was far worse. By the time the report got to his Headmaster it resulted in him being very severely punished (I know he was caned on the bare bottom – I heard it was either 8 or 9 strokes). His parents complained and that lead to a proper investigation where my lies were exposed. I faced expulsion, but my Mother managed to convince my Headmistress to give me a second chance. At the time, I would have preferred to be expelled, although in retrospect, I am glad I wasn’t. In addition to the caning at school, I got a severe smacking from my mother, and my worst ever hiding at home about two weeks later when my father found out what had happened. And nobody would talk to me at school, or on the train for months. At the time I felt very aggrieved by all of this. In retrospect, I think I deserved most of what happened (the punishment from my father was excessive)

Any other relevant info: I was the third out of five girls caned. We had all skipped school the previous day and our carefully forged sick notes didn’t pass scrutiny. One girl initially refused to accept her punishment and was made to stand and watch while the rest of us took ours. I found it very upsetting to watch it happening to the two girls who were caned before me knowing what was coming, so I assume watching four of us get it was far worse. After we had all be caned, our Headmistress (Mother Superior) asked her if she was going to be too cowardly to accept what everybody else had accepted and the girl reluctantly agreed. She got six rather than three, which seemed overly harsh to me

These are just the events that stand out in my head. I got a lot of mostly minor punishments for relatively minor things. Being late, talking in class, sloppy work – all sorts of things could lead to a smack or a whack with the strap in primary school. Once I was at the convent school, it was nowhere near as common, but casual smacking on the bottom, arm or bare legs just happened. I know I was caned at least a couple more times as well at the convent school, but I can’t remember what for – it was only two strokes each time, so probably something minor.

Corporal punishment survey

Hi, I don’t know if this forum can help, but I’m trying to put together some realistic data regarding the use of corporal punishment in schools.

Reading this and other internet sources of information it is clearly very hard to distinguish between genuine accounts of CP, peoples fantasies, and role play.

School punishment books are difficult to find, or access. When they are available they only show the information that the establishments wished to disclose. They also only reflect official punishments, generally administered by the Head, consequentially they are not very representative of the general use of CP within schools.

If I study references in the media, the reports are generally only written when the incident was questionably outside the law. In England where I live, and indeed went to school, corporal punishment was legally practiced up until 1986. Therefore there would be no reason for the media to cover anything except the unusual.

Many of us however have witnessed (often first hand) the use of corporal punishment at school. If you have (as indeed have I) I’d be very grateful if you’d reply to this post giving as much accurate information as you feel comfortable with. However to keep this thread out of the realm of fantasy, I’d ask that you only post facts, and leave the creative writing and long discussions to other forums.

Thanks for your very detailed post, and welcome to the forum.

Regarding your two canings administered by the headmistress at your convent school, I was a bit surprised that there was a difference in how they were administered. For the first one, you had to bend over the back of a chair, your skirt was raised and the caning was over your knickers. For the second one, you had to bend over and touch your toes, and the caning was over your skirt. Usually, you would think that a headmistress would have a standard way of administering a caning.

Your 12-stroke caning over your knickers sounds extremely severe, but I suppose attitudes were very different in the early 50’s and convent schools were known to have harsh disciplinary methods. Did you know of any other cases where a girl was given as many as 12 strokes of the cane at your school?

I assume you must have been in tears after that caning! Did you manage to stay in position without having to be held down while you were taking all 12 strokes? How long did the marks remain visible afterwards?

I was at a boys grammar school in the 60’s, where the headmaster could use the cane. Fortunately I never got a caning, but I remember seeing the vivid crimson stripes on a boy’s bottom in the changing room after he’d been given six of the best by the headmaster earlier that day. The sight of those marks was enough to convince me that I didn’t want to do anything to risk being caned!
