Erin Anderson hadn’t spoken much above a whisper since meeting up with her new guardians.
She’d met her Aunt Sue and Uncle Martin before, but it was a long time ago, before her stepmother, back when she was just a kid. That was the distant past, so her aunt and uncle were almost strangers. She did as she’d learned worked best for her and simply observed the situation, generally speaking only when spoken to.
Her aunt and uncle seemed like nice enough people, but she really just didn’t have anything to say to them. She was glad to be away from her stepmother. The loss of her father, though, was devastating.
