Megan told her parents she was out with Deanna and Des. She could have just as easily said she was out with Ted, but she didn’t want to drag him back into this. Drew and Nancy seemed cross with her, but she was relieved to know that they bought it.
“Would you go to your room so we can discuss this?” Drew asked in a tone that was more a command than an interrogatory.
“Sure,” Megan replied. There was something that bothered her about her parents’ behavior. They seemed disappointed, yes, but not really angry. Unlike their spats with Carrie, there were no bold proclamations and no heated exchanges. If she didn’t know better, she would have thought they were sad.
