The secondary school that I was at in the West Mids, had the slipper or detention for the 1st to 3rd form classes that would be about age 12 to 14,The 1st form boys because they thought they had let their parents down by getting detention and also it was believed that the detention teacher would find a excuse to slipper you in detention anyhow.None of the 1st formers that I new were afraid to tell parents I do not think, mine told me they did not mind if I got the odd detention as long as it was for anything they regarded as serious!
