I feel quite excited as the end of the school day approaches and can’t wait for the final lesson to come to an end.
Then I go to the prefects’ common room and wait.
There are six or seven others there getting their books sorted and such things,
but by ten past four, they’ve all gone.
I decide that a little rearrangement of the furniture might prove useful.
There’s a big table in the center of the room and at first, I’m tempted to make use of it,
but then I decide one of the chairs arranged around the table might be a better prospect.
It’s an old dining chair,
but has a woven cane seat which I think has certain interesting connotations.
I’m in the process of dragging everything around when Joanna Tomkinson taps on the door and peeps around the corner.
