The ‘Mixed’ school that I attended in north London caned both boys and girls for breaches of discipline.
I never personally witnessed a girl being caned in front of the class.
It was normal for a classroom caning of a girl to be done outside the classroom in the hall.
Often the sound of the canning was heard in the classroom by the rest of the class.
There was always was complete silence in the class when the caning was taking place.
The culprit would then return to the classroom very ‘Red faced’ and often in tears.
