During the previous few days I’d run off two more times so on the morning of moving day Mom threatened to ground me for a whole year if I so much as thought about sneaking away again.
I’d had time that week to say goodbye to all of my friends and even got a chance to get back at Ricer by letting the air out of his patrol bikes tires not once, but twice in the same afternoon. I figured that even if he found out it was me; he wouldn’t be able to do anything before we left.
I also made it a point to stop by Jenny’s house, something she had always forbid me from doing; I still don’t know why that is. I expected her to knock my head off the second she saw me, but she surprised me and threw herself at me in a back breaking hug.
