Does anybody remember the famous court case from about 20 years ago, about a teacher (from a mixed northern comprehensive I think) who was described a having a ‘spanking kit’.

Memory serves that a group of 15-year old girls had been involved in minor sweet-shop pilfering. This teacher (not a Head) visited the homes of the girls with a bag containing a slipper and a tube of cream (the aforemention headline ‘spanking kit’).

After a discussion with the Mother (important detail that), who was no doubt of respectable, but easily intimidated by sly-use-of-‘P-word’ working-class background, he proposed a short-sharp-shock… namely a slippering.
