What people sense but don’t understand is that the rewards of schools operate on different plateau,s especially private schools
You only get one crack at it in life and your formative years are very important in your overall life experience.
On the first plateau, we have basic common sense like don’t point rifles as people when loaded in the CCF!
Then we enter a higher plateau-poetry literature drama. These things bring out the sensitive nature and encourage finer emotions and feelings that are entirely lacking in brutal state school.
the inner self is challenged.
Then we go onto an even higher plateau eg morning chapel-religious questions, marches in the hills of Snowdon, bonfires, flags, drums etc. These things are calculated to bring out all sorts of weird experiences in a young individual as The Founders of The Hitler Youth well knew.
