Even in those earlier days, there might well have been many fathers ready, willing and able to give errant teenage daughters a thundering good hiding. But I’ll bet most of those fathers would have gone mental if they found out their daughters had been beaten or slippered by a male teacher.
And, as I’ve posted elsewhere on here before, bare-bottom spankings by parents in public were pretty common when I was a kid & the last one I saw was in 1982. Most of the 20 or so I’ve seen were on girls.
And not ONE from Father!! I just think there is a built-in gene or something in my generation & the one after it-you DON’T hit girls, period. And that extended to a lot of teachers, too.
