If a person did not know a boys name and had made a complaint it would be at this time they would stand at the entrance to the hall and pick the boys out that had been seen. The person and the boys concerned then went to my office.

If a person had picked boys out from assembly these boys were dealt with first. The person concerned would be in the office while I questioned the boys concerned. This made it much harder to deny doing something if they were guilty. If the boy denied it and I was inclined to believe him the boy was told to report to me at the start of school in the afternoon. This gave me a chance to investigate. If the boy admitted the offence he would be punished right away which was in most cases four or six strokes of the cane across the bottom. I would ask the person who had made the complaint if they wished to stay and see justice done.
