“You know what,” she said, gently shoving his hand away. “I had a good time, but its’ late. Nice meeting you.”
“Yeah, you too,” he replied, sounding more than a bit disappointed.
It wasn’t until she was already on her way home that Megan realized she had forgotten to give him her number. Doh! She hoped that Ted would pass it along. It had been such a chaotic day: up and down and full of surprised. She looked forward to ending it on a positive note. Those wishes were dashed the minute she saw the look in her parents’ eyes.
“Where WERE you?” Nancy asked. Her tone was curt and impatient.
“Out,” Megan replied briefly. Maybe they had the right to be a little annoyed, but it seemed like they were already overreacting.
“We had a deal,” Drew sternly reminded her.
“Well?” Nancy asked.
