It would perhaps have been true that nurses forty or fifty years ago, would have done their duty, when boys were caned in private prep schools. I have an extract from a book somewhere, which details a nurses sympathetic involvement in what is perhaps one of the few believable accounts of bare-bottom punishment I have read. Although quite short I will try and find it. I copied the relevant page and maybe I will put it into a post here. Available data tells us that such punishments were not that uncommon in prep schools, being particularly prevalent between the wars and still happening into the latter part of the twentieth century.
