It’s an interesting question. I am not a spanking fetishist but I certainly had experience of a school system for the early part of my schooling where boys were officially subject to corporal punishment though girls were officially not. And I certainly saw problems that developed because of that in that environment. So I am open to the idea that such an environment can have an effect on people. But it is my impression – both from being reasonably well aware of the history of corporal punishment as it has been published in books and journals and through knowing quite a few people over the years with experience of it from a variety of angles, that it was actually quite rare for girls to be ‘automatically exempt’ from corporal punishment.
