4. Techniques
Some teachers used an under-arm movement rather like a golfer’s swing to land “The Slipper” on the buttocks whereas others had more of an over-arm method in which they but their body weight behind “The Slipper” before knocking it into the waiting buttocks. Some teachers put a lot of effort into slippering bottoms perhaps taking a run-up to gain more momentum and slippering the bottom as hard as possible to make the slippering as unpleasant as possible for the person whose bottom needed to be slippered. Others took a more measured and controlled approach. Some teachers allowed a little space between strokes. Others gave a quick thrashing with “The Slipper”.
