Cindy Doty never got paddled by Ms. Preston, but she did get swats in Mr. Scroggin’s office. I remember we were all sitting in Mr. Lowery’s Science class and Mr. Scroggins came down and walked right into the classroom holding his paddle. He looked at right at Cindy and said “Miss Doty, you need to come with me.” She was white as a ghost when Mr. Scroggins walked through that door. She left the classroom with her tail tucked between her legs. We didn’t see Cindy until a couple classes later. You could tell she was visibly upset. I’m not quite sure why she got swats. Someone said that the principal found out that she leaving school at lunch and sneaking in through one of the back entrances. We were not allowed to leave the school unless we had written permission from our parents.
