Where girls attended co-ed schools, the ratio of caning between boys v girls was usually lower for girls,

From what others have said, I think you’ll find that extended to punishments in general. There are numerous examples of teachers turning a blind eye to misbehaving girls but coming down heavily on boys for the slightest misdemeanour. Several men, and women, have told how, in their schools, if a mixed group were caught misbehaving, it wouldn’t be at all unusual for the boys to be caned and the girls let off.

Behaviour among girls was no less or worse than boys, and caning on the whole was not only reserved for serious misdemeanours, but petty infractions that both genders committed.
