I believe that co-education has been a protection for boys in that female eyes would see through the layers of secrecy and exhortations to “take it like a man” and nail abuse for what it is, thus the existence of matrices and protocols in those places which purport to be civilised but still permit CP to take place. I am also astonished at the extent to which non-consensual underage sodomy was seen as an acceptable cost for a boy to have to pay to achieve a “privileged” education, hopefully that is also a thing of the past.
This wasn’t necessarily the case in Scotland, which although having a fearsome tradition of belting kids, did so on the hands, usually in public and where girls were certainly not exempt. Unless Scotland is full of middle-aged women who were somehow irreparably psychologically damaged by being punished as girls in the same way as miscreant boys were when they did the same things,
