Unfortunately, it’s true, that there have been schools in the past which were not fair. There are probably schools around today that are not fair. And, yes, children in schools like those might well live in fear of corporal punishment all the time if it was available to them. But the problem isn’t the corporal punishment in those cases. The problem is the unfairness. And you’re not going to fix those schools simply by removing corporal punishment from the equation. You need to fix them by addressing the unfairness.
