Lets just unpick that statement. I believe the aim of EDUCATION is to achieve the very best attainment for each individual , regardless of ability , but developing skills , knowledge and understanding to the utmost. In order to do this we need to ensure we also produce a sentient individual with a personal moral compass , and social skills which recognize the importance a of others as well as self.

However that stresses the importance of individually tailored interventions. We have an individual goal and a complete , or as near complete understanding as possible of the individual we are working with. The issue of equality in this context does not arise. We have an individual student , we are aiming at individual targets , and intervening on a one to one basis. Very much the original classical Greek concept of the educating of the ‘philosopher kings’.
