Of course I wasn’t Superman. In later life I discovered I had a low noiceceptor count after my amputation was done under local anaesthesia , and afterwards , to the astonishment of the staff ,I refused all pain killers without difficulty. This , I have now found out applies to a very small percentage of the population, and for medical reasons can be a curse as well as a blessing. For example I also found out whilst in hospital that whilst young I had appaerntly broken my left wrist , and treated it as a sprain presumabaly putting in in tubigriup. There now is a deformed bone mend at that point ….the radiologist who determined the age of the break, said most kids would have screamed with pain. I must have made no fuss.
Nevertheless,I submit it shows the danger of determining punishments on the basis of physical reaction.
