With the slipper, it’s a little easier. I got the slipper on my hand a few times and, as I remember, it hurt about the same (per stroke) every time. I got it on my bum too at about the same age so that reduces the age difference factor. In general, I’d say it was worse on my hand. There was no protection from clothing, when I got it on my bum it was through my skirt. On my hand it tended to always be given “properly” (that is, hard) but when I got it on my bum it was more often a “token” whack – enough to sting but no lasting discomfort. It’s possible, but I’m only guessing, that the teacher considered the embarrassment of my having to bend over for it (in front of the class) to be part of the punishment so reduced the pain element to compensate.
