I’ll list the two types of schools attended as a result, what would be rated severe in one school may not be rated the same in the other.
I only attended co-ed day schools so I have no experience of boarding schools.
I would rank the punishments used in my school thus –
1. Lines or Essay
2. On Report
3. Detention (60 mins)
4. Cane (from Head.)
5. Slipper
6. Kept in at lunchtime/break
7. “Telling Off”. (move this to between 3 & 4 if it’s a teacher I really respected.)
