I never heard of this “installments” thing in my twelve years of Catholic schools in the U.S. If you were in trouble, the nuns walloped you and walloped you and walloped you but good. There wasn’t any of this “six of the best” or “twelve of the best” but just pretty much use the good ol’ dustbrush on your backside until the nun figured you’d learned your lesson. Wallopings tended to be much more “on the spot” and with far less formality than in the U.K., though if several girls were being punished at once it might be more likely that they’d be called up to stand on the platform and be treated a little more formally for their dustbrushing.
