I recall reading a prospectus for a boys prep school in I think Herts where the headmaster offered up the information that the headmaster “snacked” (no misspelling) the boys if they misbehaved. Whether he fed them or he was engaging in cannibalism as punishment I never found out. A check ‘phone call to the school revealed that the school had in fact abolished all cp by that stage (the mid 1980s I recall). That was true of almost all schools I spoke to at this time even if one or two left hints still in their prospectus (one indeed had glued a piece of blank paper over that part of the prospectus but I of course peeled it back!
