I can confirm that the slipper was a major feature in every school that every one of my female friends attended, up to & including 1985. “Cane for boys, slipper for girls” was a theme in many of the schools concerned. [1 exception – posh friend in posh school. No CP, but maybe threat of the ponies being shot] You will note a washboard player on my picture. That’s Debz [her spelling] & she reckons she spent more time bending over than standing up at her place & I can quite believe it.
