Mrs. Barker, of Peckham, said that towards the end of last summer Mrs. Bracey-Wright came to see her and asked how her boy had been treated at the infirmary. She said he had been wonderfully well treated. The defendant said, “Have you not heard of the whipping affair?” She said she had not. Mrs. Bracey-Wright then asked her to sign a petition against Dr. Keats, saying, “He is wanting more money and we want to see that he does not get it. He has got too much now.” She (the witness) said she would not think of signing anything against Dr. Keats and she burnt a leaflet headed “Cat of five tails” which Mrs. Bracey-Wright had given her.
