One PE teacher had a short thick “hurry-up” stick to chase us out of the showers, but far more effective was the petite female teacher who threatened to come in if we were not out in 3 minutes. She taught English but was standing in as the PE teacher was sick.
It is quite possible Ing led a charmed life. Neither of us have any idea which way a jury would have voted, had Ing faced a trial. It surely would have given Bacon bad publicity though.
A few months back I was reading the Craig, Bentley court case. The judge presiding on that case was Lord Chief Justice Goddard. He too was a high ranking figure of authority, somewhat higher than a Headmaster, but nonetheless on a par in some ways.
