“Come on then Alison,” said mum, “Let’s go and get you some more clothes.”
This was it, I thought, Alison is entering the real world.
“How about a large clothes shop first,” she said.
“We’ll look for a few more tops and a couple of skirts for you.
Then we’ll go on to a shoe shop and get you another pair of heels.
How does that sound?”
“That’s just great,”
I said in a whisper, practicing what mum had suggested.
