There were two lads at my secondary school who were always getting the cane.
They could be seen afterward grinning and laughing afterward.
Now virtually everyone else avoided a whacking like the plague, once was enough for most and invariably it resulted in inconsolable tears etc.
I think this pair had got so used to it that they happily got into trouble knowing that a good whacking would ensue and then they could start off again with a clean slate.
The funny thing was that their blase approach did not encourage others.
Weird but true.
