A mate of mine was collected by a prefect and marched to the headmaster’s office for spitting on school grounds. The headmaster gave him 6 strokes of the cane and two weeks of rubbish duty on school grounds, I think disgusting behaviour could have been anything in the days of school corporal punishment. When I was caned the second time my headmaster probably recorded the event in the book its just that I did not see him record it unlike the first time. Interestingly this was before the days of computing so if someone was to study the use of corporal punishment they would have had to wade through a lot of books, unlike nowadays when spreadsheets are a valuable tool.
