Incidentally, after I was caned, another boy broke an unwritten rule in that he made a great deal of fun of me, actually shouting my name out down the corridor telling everyone I had just had the cane.I do however console myself in that a girl showed me great sympathy for my plight, and we became good friends. She was never caned herself and said she would have dreaded the prospect. So no chance of seeing her name in the book!
