“Dropped the phone,” she fibbed.
“Oh, OK. So how’ve you been?”

“Awesome, thanks.”
“Look, Ted,” she began, feeling her heart beat faster inside her chest. “Did you’re friend Ron say anything about me?”
Ted hesitated a moment before answering and Megan felt herself grow lightheaded in the interim. The anticipation of waiting killed her more than any bad news ever could. Why couldn’t she just hurry up and KNOW already?
