However the bottom line is no child should be paddled against its parents wishes. Paddling where it continues to exist ,should be tightly controlled and locally approved. Moreover teachers should not have any greater rights to punish than parents. A similar code of ‘abuse’ should apply. Most importantly schools must be transparent and punctilious in keeping accurate records. Paddling is a community responsibility delegated by parents not an innate right of the school administrators to do as they wish .
