I think Gordon has one of the best approaches to discipline around and I use it extensively. And for a lot of children, it works very well. But there’s a difference between ‘a lot of children’ and ‘all children’ and it’s a difference that matters.
Your mother used Gordon’s methods with you and your sister – that’s two people. Each of you has used them with your own children. I don’t know how many children that is, but even if you have fairly large families with ten children between you, that’s only twelve people. Even if it’s worked with all twelve of those, you can’t extrapolate that to an idea of total effectiveness with all children.
