I would like to know what exactly are the “benefits” to a boy, if he is caned to the extent that, it will be the most painful thing he will ever experience. I have put benefits in inverted commas, because I think that is a euphemism, but obviously Doctor Dominium actually thinks it is a real benefit to the boy, and has claimed so many times. I think it could be of “benefit” to the teacher, as the easiest way to keep a troublesome boy quiet, by subduing him with fear. Not good for an inquiring mind which education is supposed to cultivate.
