Some girls considered getting the cane a badge of honour too. It allowed us to prove we were equal to boys. We a boy or girl got the cane or slipper for the first time, they were welcomed to “the club”.
Your question is probably more applicable to schools where only boys were subject to CP. I have no personal experience of such abusive environments but, from speaking to women who have, I understand different girls had different views.
