I had not previously visited his study so I had to ask for directions. This brought about some sympathetic looks from the boys I asked and the obvious comment:

“So the Beak is going to swish you? Hard luck old chap. Have you been swished by him before?”

“No”

“Oh dear – then you don’t know what to expect. Oh well, you’ll soon find out. Try to keep your pecker up and try not to cry, as he can’t stand crybabies. A bit of advice. When you are in a position and he is about to swish you, think of something very different, something you really enjoy doing, and concentrate on that. Try to forget what he is doing to you and it won’t seem so painful. Good luck!”
