There were normally two or three 12-stroke slipperings for bad test scores at the end of each term. The tests were more difficult and sometimes a higher pass mark was set. There was a general tendency to give a higher number of strokes in those years. For example, I and another boy got 12 off the Latin teacher for copying homework (he called it collusion). I had the same teacher in the second year and he had given two boys 6 for the same offense.
