Another incident I recall happened in my second year. I mentioned in my article that “Tab”, the southpaw English teacher with the fastest swing in the western world, slippered two boys for copying homework. A few weeks later Tab called 6 boys (including me) to the front at the start of a lesson and announced that he was going to give us 3 whacks each for not doing spelling corrections. (If we made a spelling mistake he underlined the word in red and wrote a capital S in the margin.
