Her mother came in the kitchen and told her it was time for school and that she would take care of me. Pauline picked me up and settled me on her hip as she walked Gina to the door to she leave for school. After Gina had gone, Pauline carried me into the family room and sat down with me on the couch. She told me that she knew I could still think like an adult, but could not speak due to the immaturity of my vocal and oral muscles. She told me that she intended to take care of me until I got better and I should think of her as my mother. It felt a little strange to have a mother to take care of me at my age, but I realized that I had no choice.
