A sign indicating that the ladies’ restroom was around the corner provided a reminder that I really should make a trip to the toilet prior to the hearing.

I tugged at Aunt Lydia’s arm, embarrassed to announce in public I needed to go to the restroom. My aunt was thankfully on the same page as me, and she told me that they’d wait for me by the elevator until I was done doing my business. We’d arrived at the courthouse early enough that I didn’t have to rush to make sure we would be on time for the hearing.

Three of the five stalls were already occupied. My only options were two stalls that would leave me with someone to either side of me.
