The bulk of Hailey’s stool fell easily off of her diaper and landed in the waiting toilet with a plop, creating a visible splash that fortunately was unable to escape the porcelain bowl. Getting rid of the diaper itself would be more challenging. She wouldn’t be able to simply place this one in the usual diaper disposal bin, as its unique odor would betray her wrongdoing. She instead retrieved a paper grocery bag from the stock in the laundry room, placed the used diaper in it, and headed outside to the trash bin.
As she buried the bag under the garbage that was already in the can, a scary thought entered her mind.
