Ruth took Jay-Jay out of his playpen and held him on her hip as she watched the doctor give Tony a quick medical examination. The doctor called her over and said, “There’s no overt sign of physical trauma and he doesn’t appear to have the personality disintegration that would be consistent with schizophrenia. My guess is that he’s undergoing a temporary fugue state brought on by stress. There’s a strong possibility that he’ll be better by tomorrow when the effects of the stress have worn off.
