To my surprise, very little disrupted the remainder of the week. Frank nagged at me constantly on wanting to meet “This new heir to the Soel Name” as he liked referring to Lea. It was annoying but tolerable; just a firm response of “No” would cease his curiosity. Knowing him, it was unlikely his reasons for seeing her were actually from honest intentions. For the time being, I knew anyone entwined within this little problem would be better staying away from the public eye.
I awoke early in the morning for the conclusive day of Lea’s adoption. The sun had finally begun to rise, and a warm glow slowly swept over the city. My eyes were still adjusting to the outside as I slid open the door that led to my balcony, overlooking a breathtaking sight on countless houses and buildings below. I always enjoyed taking time off to just look out; it brought about an ease to my mind. A slow sigh escaped me, knowing of just how important today is. That little girl who walked through life with hardly anyone to care for her was finally going to be given a second chance.
