“Oh no everybody, it seems that we have taken a wrong turn…this looks like the territory of the headhunters!” The man at the front of the boat with a microphone said on the intercom system. I stared lazily towards the fake, robotic figures that popped out from the fake jungle bush. It raised a spear that was so dull it would have trouble breaking wet paper.
“Quick Johnny! STEP ON IT!” The man, who introduced himself as Mike at the beginning of the boat ride, whacked the top of his co-worker’s helmet. A massive gout of water sprouting from the back of the boat, and we began to move a little faster on the track we were attached too.
I had no idea how Danielle convinced me to take the jungle boat ride. I think it was because she was getting tired chasing me around the park and needed a quick break from walking/carrying me around. I flopped up against her and made soft snoring noises. Danielle giggled softly and nudged me in reply.
“Oh hush, he’s new at this, give him a break.” Danielle whispered to me.
“New?” I asked. “He sounds like he’s been doing this forever, going through the motions.” I added.
“He is, he hasn’t been around here enough to realize that the script they give you is not what you should say verbatim. It takes some courage to be different.” Danielle said.
“Well, you’re good at it. A little bit to bubbly sometimes, but better than Mr. Monotone here.” I said to her, she blushed the tiniest bit.
“Heh, I like my job. I’ve been working here for three years, ever since I was 19.” Danielle said.
“So you’re 22 now, same age as me-“I began, catching my tongue before I blurted out my true age. Danielle looked at me quizzically.
“I have a cousin that age, he’s a college student.” I said quickly. Danielle looked at me for a few more seconds before slowly turning to face our ‘guide’. I shrugged softly and rested on the hard wood seats, I felt my diaper warm for a few seconds before the sensation quickly cut off. It must have been a relaxing enough feeling because the next thing I remember was Danielle shaking me awake. I sleepily got up and grabbed her hand, letting her lead me back into the main artery of Disneyland.
I slowly blinked myself back into awareness, noticing that Danielle was leading me towards another ride; I looked around for a sign or other indication for what ride we were heading on. My heart jumped out of my chest as I saw the haunted house in the distance, it should be easy enough to convince Danielle to let me into the house so I could finally get back to my own body.
“VIP card eh? What, the kid have cancer?” Said an attendant, I looked up to see another Disney employee handing a card back to Danielle. We had gotten a VIP card for some reason, which let the two of us jump to the front of any line in the entire park, and even get past certain height requirements. The attendant opened a door concealed under a fake hill that hid part of the ride from view.
Ducking inside, we shuffled past rows of spare parts. Disney used every square of inch of the park for storage purposes, strange costumes hung on the wall next to thousands of nuts and bolts for some obscure purpose. It a strange sense, all the magic that existed at Disney was being blown away by the ‘behind the scenes’ walkthrough, something can’t be magical if you know
how it works exactly.
Of course, I was an adult that had been shrunken to the size of a toddler, so Disney seems to have some magic tricks up its sleeves.
PUFF! SCREET!!
