Yesterday morning, at 11 o’clock, James Denyard, the man who was convicted of stealing and disposing of the work out of a loom belonging to a fellow-workman, was publicly whipped in the Bethnal-green-road, pursuant to his sentence, which was to have been executed last Friday. The prisoner was whipped 100 yards, and received about 70 lashes, which scarified his back, and drew blood. There were about 10,000 persons present, and a large muster of police, as some disturbance was expected. Not the slightest attempt at rescue, however, was made, and the mob separated very peaceably when the punishment was over.
